Hello, Hello Fellow Musers! We have some new subscribers who have joined us so please help me, Nalia, and Salem welcome them to this smol yet ever growing corner of Substack!
Shoutout to New Subscribers!
Jaw, Rob

Thank y’all so much for subscribing to this Musings substack! Many hearty Huzzahs to you!!!
Thank you everyone who has been reading, following, liking, commenting, and/or restacking the Two Cats and Their Human mini-series! I appreciate y’all putting up with the cat crazed posts for the past few months, and while I know that it wasn’t exactly sunshiney, it was very therapeutic to write out and share. So, regardless of if you became a subscriber:
~because of the mini-series
~joined because you went through the archive and saw my anthropology intro posts and/or really liked my long-ass yet hopefully entertaining About page
~became interested because you randomly came across me on Notes
~joined via a recommendation from (an)other writer(s)
~whatever the reason, thank you!
A few people have been on hiatus-some have been back for a little bit, and others have recently come back. Gotta send y’all to their Substacks so they can get some love and attention:
~A special Shout Out to

More News!
On Saturday, May the 4th (Be With You) at 9:00am, you will receive a post from Nalia and Salem with an update about how they are currently doing, with some pics and videos of them in the new place. To be clear, this specific post is not part of the mini-series. For those of you who are new, every so often my furry overladies will make an appearance on this page to give their own Thank You’sfor reading the posts on this page (and always openly hoping that they’ll get some yummylicious treats too). As they’ve been saying, “Purrzzahz!”
*Cats make a noise that requires the Human to go check it out. Human gets up to go see what’s going on and one kitty gets on the chair and the other one (after getting away from the distracted human) joins her*
Nalia: We did originally want to put it out on May 1 (known to some hoomans as May Day/International Worker’s Day/Worker’s Day, and if anyone has a birthday on that day, welp, HaPPy LeVeL Up DaY!
Salem: Since our Hooman Mama had a presentation to do, in Spanish, this past weekend, we graciously allowed her to use her top-of-lap computer. She’s currently away from it right now so Nalia and I got on quickly to let you lovely Fellow Muserz know about this update!
*Hears Hooman coming back*
Nalia & Salem: Gotta go! See you on Caturday! Here’s a ninja sneak preview:
*Hooman comes back, sees message, decides to leave it alone and let the cats think that they have won this round because, duh, obviously they did*😉
Some Housekeeping!
I’m sure many of you will be super happy to know that I will be resuming my anthropology introduction posts in May. While the posting schedule will still vary, I am currently working on my long-read Physical Anthropology article and it will definitely be out sometime in May. I would love to release my Archaeology article in May, but I don’t think that will be possible.
I will be releasing an anniversary post, aka a Substackaversary post, on June 1st. The post will have a reintroduction of myself, along with some fun facts (probably too many, but hey, it’s my post, so I’ll put as many as the cats see fit for me to share…and also I’ll try to shorten that part…), along with an updated explanation of what posts for this Substack space will potentionally look like for the upcoming year, and what I hope for this space to become (Spoiler: A community-that’s what I’m hoping for, an online community. We don’t necessarily have to be like-minded, we just have to agree to disagree and be encouraging of each other. I mean, that’s how most people in the real world get along anyways, amiright? *Crickets* Yeah, yeah, I see how it is).
Somewhat Cool for School Update
School-wise, classes officially end today, April 30th-the day that this post is released-and finals will commence until May 7th. I will be doing Summer School starting May 28th and it will go through June 29th.
However, that may mean a delay for my Archaeology post until July because I will be swamped with my final Spanish class. So I will try to have one or two short (for me anyways, haha) Artist’s Corner posts ready, or I may go ahead and release my first Musing#. I was also hoping to have my first Deep Dive out too by this time, but it will have to be moved to another time as well (delay will be explained in the upcoming ‘versary post). I also had some trouble with my final anthropology class this semester, and so I will be repeating it in the upcoming Fall semester, aaaaand then hopefully I will be FINISHED with my undergrad! But, uh, let’s only do quietly muttered Huzzahs until then so I don’t jinx myself. Thanks!
*Whispers: Huzzah!*
I don’t want to say too much more, because then there won’t be too much of an anniversary post, so to end this Shout Out, once again welcome to Jaw, Rob, Sanath, and Alexander to this space! We’re happy to have y’all here!
I was going to wait until my June 1st post to do this, but I’m going to go ahead and put a pic in. This newsletter is up to
For various reasons, some have left, and honestly, I don’t blame them. I know cat stories aren’t for everyone, and also not putting out consistent posts every week has probably not helped. While I was hoping to have reached 100 subs by now, I’m actually pretty happy and grateful with this count and the growth, slow as it is. I hope to hit that lovely 100 subscriber count by June 1st, but I’ll even be happy to get from 84 to 99 even before that or by then! As mentioned earlier, I will be getting back to anthropology in May with my long-read post, so hopefully that will help the subscriber count! I’ll let y’all know on June 1st💞
Thank you, though, to everyone who has continued to stick around-even if you haven’t given the articles/post(s) a like, a comment, or a restack, I see you and I’m still grateful that you’re reading this work!
To everyone who has given my posts like, comments, and restacks I appreciate it!
In the spirit of wanting to start a conversation in the comments, I’d very much like to get some feedback before my June 1st post comes out. If you do not want to comment in the comment section, feel free to DM me, or respond to this post via email!
Carpe Diem and Huzzah!
~Kimber, Salem, and Nalia
Questions:
1.) Did you like the mini-series? Should I do another one, or just stick to singular articles that may or may not tie-in with each other but not enough to warrant another mini-series?
2.) Would you like to see a little more cat commentary on articles or just do occasional cat-based posts?
3.) Finally, what have you enjoyed most about Musing’s of an Anthropologist Student’s substack? What have you not enjoyed? What would you like to see more (or less) of in the future?
Or
