Thank y’all for subscribing to this smol-yet-ever-growing corner of Substack! Hearty Huzzahs to all of you!
Hooman: Sometime this weekend, my very late Halloween post will become available for y’all to read! I’ve had to delay my writings due to getting sick (again) as well as having to study and then reschedule and study and then reschedule again an essay exam and a lab exam for my class.
Nalia: We’ve had to work hard dis month to keep our Hooman well! I’m in need of a cat nap asap! *plops down on bed*
Hooman: And I appreciate all of your hard work, you beautiful, hardworking kitties! As for the exams, I was FINALLY able to make-them up this past Monday and Wednesday (aka yesterday)! Huzzah! Did I do good on them? The lab test I can say a for sure, “Nope!”, the essay exam-I’m surprisingly confident that I did much better on that one (really surprised myself!). Ladies, make some room on the bed for me?
Salem: You haz a couch downstairs-go use it!
Hooman: #Rude!
Salem: Excuse me?
Hooman: #RudeSassyQueen&Princess
Nalia: No, you!
Salem: *flicks tongue at Hooman and starts purring happily*
Hooman: I ask, Fellow Musers, to please knock on some wood for me that November goes a fuckton more smoother than October has. Granted, November is also my birthday month so I’m always hoping it will always go smoothly, buuuuut this year I really need it to go extra smooth-so smooth that I slide into undergraduation with a Grade C in this class!
<I mean, a Grade B would be just as awesome, but I ain’t holding my breath>
That’s all the updates I’ve got! Aaaand just to keep y’all in the spooky spirit at least through Sunday (Hey, Thanksgiving use to be celebrated randomly, and Christmas in some countries overseas doesn’t stop until around the end of the first week of January soooo my argument to extend Halloween celebrations is quite valid!), here are some fantabulous posts and Notes written by Jeanine and Nadia this week!:
via Notes:Jeanine has been posting Dia de los Muertos in Notes all week, but this Note-tice by far is my favorite one!
Nalia and Salem: *sees new things* We canz sniff sniff and attempt to taste?
Hooman: I don’t think the deceased that those are for would appreciate that…
Salem: What about purrs?
Hooman: Sure, I think they’d like purrs better!
:Nadia dives into the world of the horror video game genre!
If you haven’t heard, there is an official -as well as an official -here on Substack! Nur, who authors Woofstack and a few other Stacks, posted this gem today
*Don’t tell Salem that I put a dog-friendly post on this Shout Out!*
=>.<=
I took a brief break this evening in finishing this Shout Out and was looking through my previous posts, curious to see what the viewership was for my Intro posts. I was surprised to find that Archaeology is slowly catching up view-wise to When You Say Anthropology…! When You Say Anthropology has been out for 1 year and 5 months (tomorrow, Nov. 1st). Archaeology was released on August 1st-about two months ago. In terms of views (probably should be changed to “reads” but I don’t run this platform, haha!), the views for the Intro posts goes a bit like this:
1.) When You Say Anthropology…: 161 views
2.) Archaeology: 139 views
3.) Cultural Anthropology: 133 views
5.) Linguistic Anthropology: 114 views
6.) Physical Anthropology: 90 views
Fellow Musers, my mind is blown that so many of you have read and contributed to these view counts (whether you’re subscribers here or not)! I consider these 6 article-essays my literature babies, so thank you for treating them well and giving them the attention that they’ve been given! Perhaps I’ll do a Musing’s Special in January and do a post listing my Top 20 Viewed Posts to celebrate 2.5 years on this platform? I’ll think on it, but I’d also love to hear if you would be interested in a post of that nature as well! Lemme know in the comments, DM, email, Discord, or text!
While looking at the view count, I noticed that October 2023 was when I released Linguistic Anthropology and August of 2023 was when I released Cultural Anthropology! To celebrate the Views milestone, I would like to encourage you to give these two posts a read if you haven’t read them yet-or a re-read if you have read them, yet are itching for two long-reads this weekend and re-stack them in Notes if you feel the urge to *wink* (Physical Anthropology could use some love too, but since it hasn’t been a year, you can be forgiven to re-read that one for another time *wink*).
Alrighty, welp, I’ve taken enough of your reading time this Halloween evening, so I’ll see you this weekend with that first Fall-ish post (themed Halloweeny post) <the first of Musing’s Specials post!>! Hopefully most of y’all have had some costumed visitors at your doors by now. I have not, sadly, and I have a nice, full big bowl of fun size Three Musketeers and Nestle Crunch waiting to be given out!
Oh dear, if it doesn’t get given out, I guess I’ll just have to add them to my chocolate arsenal…oh dear, what a horrible thought! (*grinning-wink*). Oh, and if you’re a virgin and light a black flame candle (They’ll be clearly marked!) be sure to have a thing of salt with you so this shit doesn’t happen
Oh and there’s also a time change on Sunday (at least in some countries), but that’s not important right now! I hope y’all have a safe and fun Halloween, and if you don’t celebrate it, what’s wrong with you?!? have a safe and fun Thursday! Even if you don’t celebrate, you can still have some fun and legal reasons to run amok with friends or with yourself! (Disclaimer: This is not permission to egg/destroy property! And remember: although easier to clean up, toilet paper prices have gone up up up and may not be worth the literal price of tping property!)
Another Welcome and Thank you to the Newest Fellow Musers to this Substack! I hope to see y’all in the comments (no pressure if you don’t wanna, but still, would love to see you)! Thank you to all Fellow Musers who choose to stick around with me on this crazy ride and stay subscribed!
Here is a final thought from Nalia and Salem (they totally weren’t bribed at all!):
Salem: Should we tell them she did bribe us wit teh treatz?
Nalia: *thinks on it* Naaaahhhh, that’d be #rude!
Carpe Diem and Huzzah from the three proud childless cat ladies1!
~Salem, Sassy Queen of the Shadow Ninjas
~Nalia, Sassy Boss LadyCat
~Hooman, Sassy Cat Servant
I could not resist! For the record: I really am okay with not having human kids, and at the same time I’m very happy to be Auntie to my friends’ kiddos when I’m around them!
Thank you so much for the sweet shout-out, love. I hope you'll feel better soon. And have a smooth November and a fabulous celebration of your upcoming birthday!
