An Introduction to this Section. Huzzah!

(03/12/2024) Update#1 about what to expect for Deep Dives:
Dear Fellow Musers and any readers who come across this post:
When I first wrote this post, I did so with the intention of actively going paid for this section and actively putting out Deep Dive posts at a minimum of once a month. That is still my goal, however, I will not currently be putting any posts (Deep Dive or otherwise) behind a paywall. This is due to my school schedule and me not being able to actively put out anything worthy of your hard-earned coinage (or dollars if you prefer that term). I have tried to update this post to reflect that, hence some striked-out paragraphs. I would love for you to read on after this announcement, and I also understand if you don’t want to devote time to reading it. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read even this part <3

Welcome Fellow Musers to Musings of An Anthropology Student: Deep Dives section! I’m super excited to boldly go deeper into topics that I’ll be talking-and you’ll be reading-about in my upcoming Musings# section, Intro posts, and Artist’s Corner section that can be found in the Alpha Quadrant-Sol System of our galaxy and not in a galaxy far, far away!

I’ve always intended to have at least One Section of my Musing’s Substack behind a paywall. How will this be different from my Musings# and Artist’s Corner sections, you ask? Well, with the exception of this post and a few other posts at my discretion, Musing’s Deep Dives (DD’s) will (eventually) be for paying subscribers and behind a paywall. The first 3 DD’s will be free forever, and with the exception of some other DD’s as explained in the next section, the Deep Dives will be released as free-to-read for about 1 week, and then they will go behind a paywall.

While free for that one week the Subscribe button will look something like this:

Contrary to what the image says, there will not be a Deep Dive: Franz Boas post any time soon.Except for this intro post, the titles on the other two Deep Dives (GIS and International) may change, but the subject matter will stay the same. Huzzah!

These next two I’ve already written in my 4th Shout Out post, but I’m going to put them here just in case someone doesn’t want to go read it.

What will the DD’s look like?

At the beginning of the DD, it will look something along the lines of this:

Deep Dive #33: Title
Subtitle: The topic for this DD was mentioned in <Musing#69> and/or was mentioned in <Intro Post>

Or something to that degree.

And then you’ll get a nice 20-ish minute read on whatever the subject matter is. Disclaimer: I will try to keep the Deep Dives at 20 minutes, but some may be longer depending on the subject matter.

A Little Insight Into My Process

Firstly: I make a New Post (or three or five if I already know what I want them called) and give them titles and sometimes subtitles. I then proceed with typing what I already know about the titled subjects.
Secondly: I do research and add that in to form a nice mixture of humor, opinion, and facts about the subject matter.
Secondly point Fively (2.5): I reread and make edits, and all that jazzy awesomesauce.
Thirdly and 9/4ly: I try to do a recording and make edits that I missed the first time, but sometimes my insecurities get the best of me, and I hold off on adding the recording to posts until later
