Hello, Hello Fellow Musers! I hope y’all have been having a good two months since the beginning of the so-called gregorian calendric year! Can you believe that tomorrow won’t come again for another four years?!? What are we gonna do during the time that we’re waiting for another February 29th?!? Twiddle our thumbs?✅ Solve the worlds problems without starting another world war? (…This is in infinite progress…End in sight: Ummmm🤷♀️) Eat caramel and butter flavored popcorn-seperated, of course-as we watch and wonder what the fuck is going on with the world?✅ Hrrrmm, how about reading a fun Substack mini-series about two floofy cats? Oooh, y’all like that one? Well then✅✅✅!
However, before the mini-series comes out, the catladies and I want to give a Shoutout to the newest subscribers of this Substack!
Shoutout to New Subscribers!
Jeanine
(Check out her Substack: Mexico Soul!
Read about her journey to living in Mexico’s Yucatán, while also learning about the Maya!)
Tree
(Check out her Substack: Words in Motion!
This Substack dives in all sorts of topics!)
Thank y’all so much for subscribing to this small (yet ever-growing) corner of Substack! I send you both many hearty Huzzahs!!!
So what have I been up to lately? Welp, in no particular order:
~Succumbing to the demands of my furry overladies and giving them attention when they deem that they need it✅✅✅
~School-doing much better in Spanish, getting ready for midterm in two days for my anthro class, and also my first Spanish exam of the semester✅
~Work/UberEats✅
~Reworking the ever changing About page✅
~Helping the Overladies write their Part Dos’✅
~Starting over Reworking my Physical/Biological Anthropology and Franz Boas Deep Dive posts✅(when I can distract the ladies away from the laptop)
~Figuring out how to do a Behind-the-Scenes for my two reworks✅
~Figuring out how to compromise with my inner insomniatic nightowl because 30’s Kimber cannot stay up as late as 20’s Kimber did and still function 💯%the next day🤦♀️🤷♀️
~Inching closer to applying for grad school (To my sister and her partner: I may call y’all and have you repeatedly tell me to “Just fucking do it!” along with some other expletives until I really, truly fucking do it!)
In between the checklists
what have I been distracting myself with reading on the Stack of Subs?
My fantabulous usuals:
I’ve also newly subscribed to a few new Substacks and hope to read a few of them while on Spring Break. I case you’re curious, they be:
by , (mmm, ramen noodles!) , by , and by !Articles/Posts I’ve found on Notes, either via people I follow/subscribe to, or just happened across:
~From Michael Edward’s Note, restacking a post by
(I personally love the part of “I could..”):~From Tree Langdon’s Notes <Yes, our same Tree💜💜💜> restacking a post by
~From Jeanine’s Notes <Yes, our same Jeanine💜💜💜> restacking a post by fellow writer
~A Note I came across by
(restacked by a fellow writer):~Taegan came out with a collaboration with
called:~A note that I restacked, also by Sarina Zoe (I tried to copy the link but I wasn’t able to paste it-lame, Substack, really lame!)
What else have I been doing?
~Catching up on my three favorite podcasts and making room to listen to another on:
-Afterlives of Ancient Egypt (new episode came out on Monday)
-This Podcast Will Kill You (caught up and waiting for the new season. The last episode was about the big M-menopause! It was very fascinating!)
-Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard (I’ve got alotta episodes to catch up on-I’m still in 2018 on that podscast👀)
-What Now? with Trevor Noah (I’ve listened to the first two, need to finish the third episode. I also need a whole season-at minimum-of Trevor Noah/Jon Stewart Daily Show co-host collabs! Who wants to help manifest this with me?!?)
~Being silly and lovey-dovey with my boyfriend (novío)/partner
~Listening to the Eurobeat song of the day that my novío sends to me a few times a week😄
~Reading some Webtoons. Top 5 favorite reads on the Webtoon app:
1.) Lore Olympus & Subzero (I really can’t choose between the two)
2.) Blue Milk Special
4.) Adventures of God
5.) The Shadow Prophet…and a whole lotta others that I could write out but I won’t because you, Fellow Muser, have other writers to read💞
~I’ve also changed the “Buy Me A…” from “beverage” to a famous and quite catchy Witcher song quote. All you gotta do is clickety-tappaity-samashity on the link at the end of this post!
Non-school books that I’m slowly reading through
but also just open to smell that normal, non-school book smell:

Lastly, to get you in the spirit of reading cat stories, Salem and Nalia want me to link these two true Slice of Life essays:
-My Murderous Roommate (by Andrei Atanasov)
-Leave My Kitties Alone (by Michael Edward)
Aight, that’s all I got for this Shout Out! Thank you again to Jeanine and Tree for joining this smol yet ever growing corner of Substack! Thank you always to everyone who has read, shared/restacked, commented, liked, and recommended this Substack to readers/writers (writers are also readers!)! I hope y’all enjoy your week, have a fantabulous weekend, and the Overladies and I look forward to reading what y’all think of Two Cats and Their Human mini-series!
First essay post will be released next Wednesday close to 9am (I have it scheduled for 9am but sometimes it likes to release a few minutes after. Why? Idk, ask Substack!)😄 Gotta go get ready for my mid-term, upcoming Spanish exam, and small writing assignment!
Carpe Diem and Huzzah!
~Kimber, Nalia, and Salem
What a fabulous compendium, Kimber, and want to say a big Thank You for the shout out on me as a new member and also including my Substack in it. Gracias! Also, I make mention of Francis Boas, who you're writing about, in one of the last blogs I did on Blogger before moving to Substack, on Mexico's first woman archeologist, Isabel Ramirez Castenada. Boas published her book, Ten Folk Tales in Nahautl, in 1924! Isn't that weird synchronicity? He was her mentor and benefactor and she owed her employment at a museum to him, while she studied. So, there's that! Love that unique connection we have. I'll have to do a deep dive now into Boas.
What a great round up! Thank you for including me. Also, I love the book suggestions - my kid's school had a bookfest last week and I was only going to volunteer - I swear! - but I walked out with 200$ and 3 shelves' worth of books - ha!!! So... I love the idea of a list but take forever to actually read them 😅😅
