Boldly Going Where Some Kitties Have Gone Before And Make Their Humans Rescue Them!
Hello Hello, Fellow Musers! As with most of my posts, I was given the “Post is too long for email” thingy, so to anyone viewing this post in their email, to see any images that are cut off, you’ll need to view this post via the Substack website or app.

Captain’s Log: Star Date 0042040109
Our ship has landed back on Earth and is being refueled. The crew is taking a much deserved break and have gone to see their loved ones and to also see some of the newer sights that The Federation has built within the epicenter of the Alpha Quadrant. I myself was relaxing at my apartment when I noticed two pairs of eyes looking through my window. Ah, the cats are back! Marvelous! I feed them and play with them while getting ready for the new missions. We will be leaving next week and I will miss seeing these two floofy felines. I wish I could bring them with me…
Captain’s Log: Star Date 0042020809
A few crew members have discovered two floofy stowaways stalking around the mess halls of the ship. They were finally captured and brought to me. I recognized them immediately, and made an executive decision to let them stay on board. Most of the crew are surprisingly happy about the decision. There were a few disgruntle crew members, but after a week even they were won over. Prior to the cats inviting themselves onto the ship, I had already given them the names of Nalia and Salem. Thankfully, we were still within Earth’s orbit, so we were able to stock up on cat food, litter, toys, various cat trees, and other cat essentials. The Federation hasn’t always allowed critters referred to as “pets” on starships, but thanks to a study released a few years prior that discussed about 50 decades of anthropological reports about the benefits of allowing crew members to have pets with them on voyages that lasted more than a month, we were able to have the cats on board the ship. There were also other various pets that the crew members have with them on this ship, some of whom are also cats. Along with a few crew members, I have arranged to introduce their furry overlords to Nalia and Salem and see if they will get along. I’m about to enter my quarters, where the cats are currently “stationed”.

Captain’s Quarters, now known as The Cat’s Meow:
Salem: It iz anothur day out here in the endless expanse known as space. My companion and I have convinced the so-called “captain” of this ship to allow us to come along, furee of charge, and we are provided wit all teh amenities dat we cat folk need!
Nalia: We haz our own littur boxez (dat I insist my companion sharez wit me), bags upon bagz uv of food fur teh long journey to-Where are we going again?
Salem: I don’t knowz…I can’t readz teh languagez! Also, I just followed you aboard becuz you haz good sense about beings who like cats!
Nalia: I thot we wur going to a cat planet…
Salem: We shuld ask teh Human when she get back.
Nalia: Yeah, using dat translation droid!
Salem:…Wrong universe…
Nalia: Oh right! Um…translation android! Compootur?
Salem: Correct universe!
Human walks in. The Human is of the femanine nature, and this instantly makes the cats much more comfortable, especially Nalia. Due to her inquisitive nature, Nalia has found that she is able to get a gentle response to herself from Humans who are willing to show their feminine side, whereas Humans with deep voices and who try to intimidate her she has found that she does not necessarily get along with. Salem, however, does not trust any being at first, so she decides to go hide in a corner, but still be near enough to rescue her littermate if she needs it.
Nalia: Hellooooo, Hooooman! We would like to know where we are going! Are we going to a cat planet? A turtle planet? A dog planet? Will there be places to scratch our claws on, plants that will have an…interesting effect…on our psyche, and places to run around and play in and jump high onto? Huh? Huh? Will there be? We gotz to knooow dese tings!
Salem (from her hiding spot): Yas, Hooman, we gotz to know teh tings!!!
Human1: We will be going to many many places, dearest kitties! But today you will actually be meeting more people from this ship, and their animal companions as well. I need you to get into your carriers because we need to leave this room, and I know that you’re still getting use to the ship, so I wouldn’t want you to get lost.
Nalia: Meet new people?!? Are they gentle? Will their animal companions be nice to us?
Salem: I don’t want to go! I’m not feeling too social right now. I don’t mind meeting other animals, but so far you’re the only hooman I can tolerate!
Human: Okay, so Salem stays, but Miss Nalia, do you still want to come?
Nalia: Yas! I mean…no…but yas…but…but…I wanna come but I don’t wanna leave Sister Salem!🥺
Human: I think Sister Salem will be just fine by herself for a little bit. You can convince her to come next time, and she’ll probably want to after she hears of your adventures with your new furry friends!
Nalia: Okay, I’ll go! I can haz treat in the carrier on the way there?🥹
Human: Sure, baby, here’s some treats!
Salem <peeks head out>: I want treats!
Human leaves some treats for Salem to enjoy. What feels like 30 minutes but was actually a few hours, The Human returns with a very happy Nalia. The Human opens the carrier and Nalia comes bounding out, excited to tell her littermate all about her adventure with the new friends. The Human has to leave though, as it is her shift on the starship deck.
Salem: Sooooo, how wuz teh playdate?
Nalia <excited and still wanting to play, scratches one of the many scratchpads available>: It wuz great! Thur wur 3 othur kittiez! One wuz anti-social like yu-I tink yu to wuld get along! Me and teh othur to two played and played and played! We even snuck out and made teh people findz us! We went to a section called Enginnearang! It wuz fun fun fun! Also, besidez our Hooman, der wuz anothur Hooman, and one hoomonoid called a Klingon, and thur wuz anothur hoomanoid wit pointy-ish earz and eyeburowz called a va…va…a vaulucan..a Vulcan!
Salem: Wow! Thur are so many different living beingz! Maybe I will come wit you next time!
Nalia: Squeeeee!!! Yay!!!
A loud noise startles the cats, but they quickly calm down, and they hear Their Human’s voice: Attention all crew members! We are leaving for the DeltaSigma Quadrant and will be entering hyperspace in 30 minutes. Please prepare accordingly and secure any and all animal companions that you have been allowing to run around freely in your quarter spaces. Thank you, Captain out!
Salem: Oooh, we’re about to leave! Oooh, tis iz exciting! And we haz a huge window to watch from! Squeee!!!
Human enters the room.
Human: Hello babies! We’re about to go super fast, and I don’t want either of you to get hurt! So, remember the safety harnesses and safe area that I showed you? Let’s get you strapped in!
Nalia: Oooh yeah! We iz teh Space Kittiez!!! We are to bodly go-
Salem: Where some kittiez haz gone befur!
Both: And make der Hoomanz rescue dem!

Space.
The Final Frontier.
These are the voyages of the many cats who have chosen to travel with the various beings of The Federation. Their mission to provide comfort, playfulness, and sassy cuteness, along with occasional cuddles and purrs to new civilizations and peacefully conquer the galaxy. To somehow finally satisfy their curiosity. To go where some kitties may have gone before and choose to visit again, as well as
to boldly go where no kitties have gone before!
O Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display.
Connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

Apparently there is a book series where the characters are cats!
Salem: We tried too find imagez of real-life catz dressed az Star Trek characterz, but alasz we failed in that mission.
Nalia: However, we did find plentie of memes!
Both: Enjoy!
Happy Star Trek Day, Fellow Musers! May You All

The cats and The Human can understand each other via the computer translating vocals. This is a ship-wide thing. This is also a sci-fi story so it makes totally sense! Mhmm, yupperz!
