Some Things That Have Happened Recently That I Need To Talk About #2
Thoughts In Letter Form About The Current Political Climate
Dear Fellow Musers,
This post is an opinionated political post. I’ve been hesitant on getting too political on MoaAS1 for sometime, of which I explain why later at the end of this group of letters. This is an opinion post, not an anthropology-based post. It’s not written in my usual show-my-research-work type style. I will understand if some of you unsubscribe because you think it leans too much one way or another politically, or you’re not here for politics. I do, however, give an explanation at the end of this letter-type post about the amount of political posts I will do going forward.
However, I would like to go ahead and say that my future political posts will have some kind of disclaimer like: “This post is political-hold onto your butts!” at the top of the post. 99% of my future posts will not be political.
Originally, this post was ABSOLUTELY one-sided, but it has since gone through many a revision to be a bit multi-sided.
And I did not write this post to change any minds. You are free to believe and think what you want, and so am I.
Thank y’all in advance for sticking with me!
~Kimber
To My Fellow Continental Americans: North, Central, and South Americans
Hello, my name is Kimber. Currently, about 138 of y’all know me as the writer/author behind the Substack Musings of an Anthropology Student. Most of y’all have probably seen me hanging out in Substack Notes, occasionally posting images of my floofy adorable cats who deserve all of my time and attention (and believe that I really don’t give them enough of it), read the articles they “write”, as well as the musings and artistic articles that I write.
My Fellow Continental Americans2, I’m writing to you today because I am concerned. I’m concerned about the state of my birth country, the United States of America, and the impact that the actions of the current administration and their wanna-be-techspaceboi-overlord will have on our continents, as well as the planet that we call Earth.
This is not a normal article-essay-post that I am writing. This is a post that has been on my heart and mind since the current administration won the U.S. election in November 2024, escalated after that disastrous meeting with Ukranian President Zelenskyy, fucking tariffs, and now the worrisome illegal deportation of an immigrant who was on his way to getting his citizenship but due to an “administrative error” is unable to leave a prison in El Salvador and come back to the U.S. where his family is.
I have split this post into four letters. There is a letter to the U.S. American voters, there is a letter to Canadians, there is a letter to Mexicans/Central and South Americans, and there is a letter to the International Community. And finally, I end with an explanation of why I wrote this post.
Let’s dive in.
To My Fellow U.S. Americans Who Voted For The Current Administration
Was this the chaos that y’all truly wanted when you voted to have Donald Trump back into the White House? I know y’all voted for him to get corruption and fraud out of the government, and even though I voted for Kamala I applaud your reasoning for wanting to get corruption and fraud out of the government…but like this? When you voted the way you voted, did you really want the government that was put in place to serve you to be gutted like an animal and turned into a zombie corpse? Really?!?
Don’t get me wrong, change is good. Hell, most of my generation is cognitively use to things changing. But a sudden overhaul of the federal government? It frankly would’ve been wiser to do so in quarterly increments so ya know, less people would be pissed off and be able to actually find other jobs to support themselves and their families. And this ain’t fucking snowflake talk. It’s common fucking sense.
When I voted for Kamala, I voted for her because, while I didn’t know that Trump would put fucking Elon Musk in charge of gutting our government, I had a feeling that Trump would do something (a lot of somethings) with the goal of upending the government and attempt to put an authoritarian spin on things. He said so as much the first time he ran. He said so much more the second and third times he ran. Peeps, lemme tell y’all-while I am for order, while I am for law, I am not for authoritarianism.
I am not for someone having total and complete control over my life. Authoritarianism is the opposite of Life, Liberty, Justice, and The Pursuit of Happiness for the the masses. Authoritarianism is for people who want to control everyone else-their friends, families, enemies, and allies-but have no one keep them (the person being the authoritarian) in check. In political speak, ‘tis the opposite of Checks and Balances.
Life, Liberty, Justice, and The Pursuit of Happiness for the few, and Misery for Everyone Else is the authoritarian way.
In the short run, it sounds like a party! But in the long run, authoritarianism is nobody’s friend or ally. It’s that hangover after a night out with friends that will not go away for a whole, long-ass week-and that week can span multiple weeks/months/years.
Ima be honest-looking back, in an honest soul-searching reflection, I realized that I didn’t really have a problem with the first two years of Trump’s first term. Except for his fucking, constant rambling which I could not stand, it was okay. For me, at least. I’ve never voted for the guy, but his first two years-it was okay. So why did I not vote for him in 2020 as well as this time around? For this time around-please see Jan. 6, 2021. For the 1st time around-Lemme tell y’all why:
I voted for Biden and subsequently Kamala over Trump because I STILL have PTS from when Covid-19 happened. I remember how he discouraged the use of masks and encouraged the use of a cleaning product that when ingested is very lethal to humans, and can kill. Like, who suggests that shit? And then when he actually gets Covid and has to undergo treatment, only then does the fucker show true sympathy and empathy to the already millions who are fucking dead from Covid-19 or complications from it, and “wants everyone to get the same medical treatment” he did?!? That ain’t gonna bring them back son! And it was a little too late to show sympathy for the living relatives of those dead persons! But I guess better late than never, huh?
Ironically, this time around, my state and a few other states have measles making a comeback, and the guy who is now in charge of the National Health Department is not doing anything about it because he hates vaccines for everyone but his offspring. Isn’t the health guy, like, the nephew of a previous president? Geez, one might wonder what Uncle President would say about all this if he was still alive? What would his Aunt First Lady say if she was still alive?
Also, I highly doubt that if the Harris administration made an “administrative error” and deported someone who had immigrated here very much legally, does not have a criminal background, has a family in the U.S., and was following all the steps to becoming a naturalized United States citizen, they would not only own that mistake, they would get said person back to the U.S. No, her presidency wouldn’t have been perfect, and she would definitely have had a shitton of learning curbs, and made other mistakes that everyone (myself included) could complain about, but I’m 100% sure that she wouldn’t have made the kind of deportation mistake(s) that have been reported ongoingly. Nor would she ignore court orders that said, “Bring him back.”
And, lest us voters forget: If Trump had actually won the 2020 election, he would have not legally been able to run again, as stated by the U.S. AMERICAN CONSTITUTION. He would’ve had to step down because I truly believe that a majority of Americans would not vote for him to be elected a third/fourth/tenth time.
Another thing: It has been pointed out by many that women usually are put into a head-of-state-position when shit hits the fan. At least, that’s what it appears to be shown historically from our very modern perspective. However, over the past century, more women have been in the position of heads-of-state and shit has not necessarily hit the fan in most cases. Of course, one could argue that women in charge back then (and now) were (maybe still are) still pushing the patriarchal narrative.
However, in my humble opinion, I believe it’s time to change that narrative of “We have to put a woman in charge because we’re fucked and we need another perspective that way we can blame later for our downfall!” to “Yeah, men can rule, but ya know what? They ain’t the only ones, nor are they the only gender who can make independent decisions!” Yes, there are some women who thrive on chaos and disorder-like say, some men-but there also women who thrive on chaos and the universal right To Just Be. To Be As One Is. We also shouldn’t discount people who do not fit into whatever society’s perspective is of gender-their views matter too!
<This is not to say that I don’t believe the patriarchy doesn’t exist-it very much does, and like authoritarianism it’s harmful to everyone, no matter your gender or sexuality! I just feel that we’ve talked and talked about how harmful it is so much that it’s about damn time to really start working on a narrative that will eventually replace the narrative of patriarchy and work for the all or at least the majority, of people no matter where they come from!>
In a future post, I’m also hoping to explore the words “women” and “female”-can you spot the reasons for why I would want to explore these two, very specific words?
I would like to take a moment to address Mitch McConnel: SIR…YOU andj;&4&;77djfjrne//39!;|€~€}ejueq58934uiajklah984u!!!!!
<A few extended bleeps later>
Acceptable Translation: You could’ve stopped this madness. You know what you fucking did (not do) back in 2021! And don’t think currently siding with the Democrats to vote “No” on certain nominations is going to get you off the fucking hook!3
*Author takes a few, long-ass moments to calm down, goes and makes a grass angel (after checking that it’s all really grass and there’s nothing else there), works on some homework, does a little art therapy, and then comes back to the post*
To the Republicans who have made actual attempts to steer your party away from this madness and have done your best to not fall in line with M-A-G-A: We see you trying. And for now, that’s all that we can ask of you is to continue to Try and then Do Resist. Thank you for that.
To The Democratic Party
You fuckers-oh yeah, Ima talk to y’all to! Los hijos de putas! You were in charge for FOUR FUCKING YEARS!!! And, except for a four-year break, EIGHT FUCKING YEARS!!! You claimed to hear the U.S. American people-you heard some, sure, but you sure as hell did not hear most!
Let’s briefly mention what will probably be the most good, memorable part of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ administration for me, personally: The motherfucking Infrastructure Bill! The national part of the country-specifically the ports, the national highways, broadband systems, electric charging stations for those electric vehicles, bridges, etc. getting a much needed update! This will probably be the best thing to come out of the Biden/Harris era. Maybe the only good thing.
Now let’s turn to the issues that most likely got the Democratic Party’s ass whooped:
~The Economy
~Inflation
~I know there’s other things but these two are the most important to me
Dear Democratic Party-I keep hearing from y’all that the economy has been pretty fucking good. And I’m sure it has been for the most part. But I honestly wouldn’t know-because while the economy appeared pretty good, guess what fucker was also rising? Inflation you semi-ignorant bitches!
Now, to be fair, I’ve always been on the thought-train that Inflation’s gonna rise no matter who the fuck is president of whatever country no matter what their gender is. My International Political Economy class that I took for my International Studies Minor to go along with my Bachelor’s of Anthropology degree has strengthened this thought-train of mine. However, there’s a shit ton of well-meaning, wonderful peeps who don’t accept this reality-the working class and the under-served peeps. The peeps who are considered important yet not important to both Republicans and Democrats, buuuuuut especially of laaaate the
…
Democrats.
You fuckers claim to be THE PARTY for WE THE PEOPLE! Yet, when asked questions about jobs and the nitty gritty, y’all claimed that pretty much everything was fine. It was great! And you know what? In certain areas, yeah, I bet it was fine! I bet it was great!
But ya know what? It wasn’t all fine and great and Hakuna Matata for a lot of people. It wasn’t always a wonderful ph(r)ase at all. It was our cinnamon roll Elmo with his hands raised, mouth open screaming while running from the fire in the background!
You know who seems to have fallen through y’alls utopian view for the United States? The working class peeps. You know, those peeps who really make up a good part of y’alls base (or so I keep hearing). Like, y’all really, reeeaaallly let them down.
Who is them, you might ask?
~Myself-who does not have a straight voting record that is strictly Democratic/Republican Party. There have been many times where I have literally voted for someone in all parties on one ballot. It was only when Trump got elected the first time that I started voting straight Democrat. And I’m fucking tired of it.
~My coworkers (some who probably voted for Trump because-unlike me-they saw that y’all were becoming just as much of a train wreck as, say, M-A-G-A)
~Other college students who will eventually join the workforce, people going back to school so that they can get an education to get better job prospects beyond an associate’s degree4
~People who might not have finished their education due to hardships of any kind, but still work their asses off to build a good life and also believe in the Democratic Party because it fits with their worldview
~Small business owners who had struggled because of the pandemic and still continue to struggle today, four to five years later
~And so many more!
The last ones, the small business owners, they probably wanted to know whyyyyy?!?! And did you give them an actual answer? Nope, nope you did not. We know the rest.
Admittedly, historically recently, the Republicans are known to cater to the wealthy and 1% and 0.01% of the U.S. population…but ya know who else also does that?
You-the Democratic Party, specifically the Democratic Party Top Leaders-y’all claim y’all don’t, but we all know You. Fucking. Do!
I recently was sent a survey from the Democratic Party asking what I, along with whoever else they sent it to, thought the Democrats as a political party needed to do to change, and to let the people know that they know they (the Dem Party) fucked up. I answered, I sent it in-I was respectful, I didn’t cuss, but I did let ‘em have it. And I hope everyone else that answered to also let ‘em have it (and threw in one or five cuss words while at it).
To be brief, what do I personally think the Democratic Party should do to change?
~Stop just talking about D.E.I. and start fucking showing you really mean it when you say you represent all people. Become D.E.I. instead of just sayin’ it, ya know?
~Also, de-politicize D.E.I.
~Actually unify your party-yes, you can have a shit ton of differences and beliefs, that’s all fine, that’s expected. But be fucking unified. Have at maximum 3-5 main messages, not 300,000! (For example: Republicans have their difference, yet they are still unified by about 3 messages. Just. Sayin’.)
Until then, your party base will most likely say this wonderful Southern phrase to you until you get yo shit together:
Bless. Your. Heart.
(Although I would like to acknowledge how badass Cory Booker was standing and talking for 25 hours. Thank you sir for taking action! And Pete Buttigieg for getting back into the action of talking to people who don’t agree with him either personally or politically!)
To Quote Lincoln Park—> “In The Eeeeeennnndddd!!!”
Whether or not we voted for Trump, we were all voting for some kind of change that would be chaotic. Those of us U.S. Americans that participated in the election voted for chaos either way.
It’s also of my opinion that we need more than the two main parties that we have. We need at least 3-5 (or more) political parties that truly represent the spirit of the United States of America at minimum. What’s that spirit, you ask? Centrist, Conservative, Liberal, Far Left, Far Right, Independent, etc. for starters. I personally would happily join the The Rent Is Too Damn High party (yes, that was an actual very small political party back in the early 2000’s)!
Some things that I would like to see that will probably not happen soon but I will eventually talk about in more detail in future posts:
1.) Actual Term Limits for Senators, House of Representatives, and the Supreme Court as well as closing any loopholes of how many times someone can be (not just run for) president in this country! (I would say close any loopholes, period, buuut we all know human nature ain’t gonna allow that)
2.) An maximum age limit for when someone cannot run for president (i.e. minimum is currently 35 to run for president. I would say 65 as the cut off age of someone running for president)!
3.) I really need y’all to hear me out on this last one: A national database for everyone who has ever bought a gun of any kind. And a limit on how many guns a household can have at one time (please see the damn footnote5!)
As mentioned-These topics will be other posts-with the political ones written in a more fair and balanced way, with all sides (pros, cons, neutral) explored as best as I humanly can. I mean, I wrote two long-ass reads about two topics in anthropology that I only have a hobby-like interest in (Linguistic and Physical Anthropology), but I still wrote about them and made them as fun to read as I could. So, yes, I DO believe that I CAN do the SAME with these last three points, and still be somewhat unbiased.
Edit: Since writing this post, some other things have happened-to the people who participated in the (very peaceful!) Hands Off! protests, I have a cautious renewed hope for the United States. I did not participate in any because there was snow in Texas and I was also finishing up a (one day late) paper for my class. But rest assured-I was with y’all in spirit! Also shout out to the 505016 movement too!
And now that I have spoken to ‘murica, I would like to turn my attention to our (former? Keeping us at arms length?) friends who are not in the United States, but are still part of both Continental Americas.
To Canada and Canadians
Dear Canadians, and Canada:
It is my hope that y’all sincerely don’t believe that everyone in the United States wants you to be our enemy or our 51st state (spoiler: I prefer that you “keep on keepin’ on” as independent as fuck from the U.S. while still being our friend). You’ve been our bestie through many trials and tribulations, and I hope that (at least in the past), we’ve also been a good friend to y’all.
You’re the DJ Tanner to our Kimmy Gibbler. You know how to keep us from going off-the-rails-crazy.
Yeah, we have our squabbles, but most of us U.S. Americans like, love, and appreciate you for putting up with our shit. You didn’t have to stand by us (and okay, sometimes you’ve had to be the bigger kid and tell us the real real), but I assure you, the majority of us want you to stay Canadian, and stay our friend. We might not like the tariffs that you’ve put in place in response to the buffoon Trump putting non-consensual tariffs on you, but we understand.
I personally understand and support your decision to remove products from the United States off of your store shelves, and in their place put Proudly-Made-In-Canada products instead.
Thinking on it, I’ve come to realize that maybe we U.S. Americans haven’t truly appreciated you. So, to the Canadians who have chosen to live in the U.S. (and are not a certain U.S. senator that unfortunately represents TX7), I would like to say thank you. I personally may not have come into existence if my very opinionated, full of spine and fiery sassy Canadian grandma had said “no” instead of “yes” to a date with my very U.S. American Texan also opinionated and stubborn grandpa. And those two definitely had their differences (I gotz some stories y’all!), yet they still loved and stayed with each other until death did them part.
I’ve met some lovely people from Canada, am a subscriber to a few fantabulous Canadians here on Substack (shout out to Taegan MacLean, Noha Beshir, and adoptive Canadian Nishant Jain), and in a weird way I’ve always felt offended when U.S. Americans talk shit about Canadians.
I don’t have a physical Canadian flag, but I guarantee you that I have one in my heart, right in-between the Texas flag and the U.S. flag. And one is not flying above the other. They are all spread out and very equal to each other in my #blessed Texas-sized heart.
I love you Canada, and I hope that one day you can resume being the DJ to our Kimmy again, because we need you. We truly do💜💞
Edit: Since I wrote this piece, a thing happened in Canada and the world got to see that Canadian Spine that I always knew was there😏⬇️
To Mexico, Central and South America
Dear Mexico, Central America, and South America,
Canada may be our DJ Tanner, but y’all are our Stephanie Tanner. Canada is fun to go to (okay, I haven’t been yet, but I wanna go visit), but when U.S. Americans want to go party and get away from our chaos, we turn to you for inspiration. Y’all got those warm beaches, those Maya pyramids, that reasonable ¡calienté! that we need to freshen up our lives!
Look, I know things have gotten almost ghost-pepper-spicy between us, and while I’m glad that things have gone down to jalapeño-spicy, I know y’all are fed up with us U.S. Americans coming down and not always giving you the respect you deserve.
Some of y’all come live with us and learn our language so you can get good jobs and live good lives, but we tend to not always show you the same courtesy. Lo siento amigos💜
U.S. Americans hear that y’all aren’t helping with the “immigration problem”, only to find out later that y’all and Canada are probably doing more than we U.S. Americans actually are. I would like to take this moment and acknowledge that most of you who immigrate and emigrate to the U.S. do so very legally.
To the ones who feel forced to come to the U.S. illegally because your government is bad shit, and you either don’t have time or are unable to get your immigrant/emigrant status started and you have to flee-to you, I’m truly sorry. Lo siento, mi amigo y amiga y amigos y amigas. You don’t deserve to be in the circumstance that led you to being branded “illegal”.
I’ll be honest-right now, I really can’t do anything to physically help you, or ease your emotional pain and heartbreak. But maybe, hopefully, one day I can help you tell your story in your own words, and help my fellow U.S. Americans further realize that most immigrants and emigrants from Central and South America (aka Latin America), and elsewhere around the world really do want live side by side with us in as peaceful a manner as possible.
I understand it may not be at this very moment in time, but I do have hope that it will happen in the future!
To International Friends
Dear International Friends,
I know, at times, you look at us U.S. Americans and think, “What the fuck are they doing? They ain’t makin’ the world better! Okay, we’ll take their help, but also Fuck Them!”
Edit: Since I first wrote this letter, most of the international community (sans a few will-remain-unnamed-countries) have actually decided to say, “Fuck you too sis!” in regards to the psychotic insanity of the current U.S. administration. It seems like some in this administration may be slightly listening and rethinking the shitshow they’ve agreed to help produce if only for their 5 minute place in the spotlight! Thank you, International Community, for standing up to this insanity!
Honestly, as a nation, U.S. Americans deserve to be told to fuck off. You didn’t ask our government to interfere (I feel that I am obligated to say “allegedly” even though I know there is evidence that our government is a f meddler) with your country’s issues, either making them worse or occasionally making them better (I think, I honestly don’t know, so don’t quote me on it). But I want to say to you, the U.S. people (most of the lay government ones, and the everyday, non-government lay people like you everyday lay people) who also work hard to survive and just want to live their lives, really wish that our government would let y’all be, and stop using the guise of “national security” to interfere in y’alls affairs. We non-governmental entities, who are more than NPCs, are happy to help y’all in times of crises and then go back to our lives when it’s clear that y’all don’t need us to be physically in your spaces anymore.
I’m sorry that it hasn’t worked out like that in real life. I hope y’all know that we do mean well, even though a small bunch of entitled influencers would make you think and feel otherwise. I guarantee you, if you read the comments, and get past the trolls, you will find U.S. Americans that will be happy to defend why the country that those entitled influencers visited treated them the way that they were treated.
To entitled U.S. Americans-you visit a foreign country, break their laws and insult their culture, then you better expect to be treated like the trashy lawbreaker you’ve shown yourself to be. And you better expect to have your “superior” U.S. Americana ass insulted. Fuck you and your sense of entitlement.
To Palestinians and Israelis who are tired of the fighting and sincerely wish to coexist with each other: I am with you💞. I happily support a two-state solution. To be clear: I am anti-Hamas, and I am also anti-genocidal Benjamin Netanyahu and his government. I am also not for displacing people and turning their home into a fucking resort. That is truly sickening.
To anyone reading this and thinking, “Why is she sympathizing with those Palestinians?!?”
I urge you to read Noha Beshir. Her Substack,
, has further helped me be more sympathetic, empathetic, and understanding to Muslims, and has helped me understand Islam better from the view of a Muslim woman.I’ve only really known one other Muslim woman, who I had the pleasure of working with. My dad and I shared a Christmas/Holiday meal one year with her family and friends of various beliefs. For a moment and the rest of that day, it felt like world peace was achieved. It’s a moment that I try to look back on, remember, and hold in my whole being as I observe the chaos of today.
I also once knew a woman of Israeli descent who taught me alot about Judaism beliefs and practices. She had a son who lived in NYC who I had the pleasure of meeting once, along with his female partner. Culturally, he was Jewish, but he was not religious. It was a confusing, yet also a quiet relief for my 19-year-old self to actually meet someone from another culture who followed their own path, not the path that people expected of them out of cultural and religious obligation. It was at this time that I was beginning to question my own faith, religion, beliefs, etc., and was starting to feel that pull to explore what I truly believed in. Update: I’m still on that journey!
To President Zelenskyy (who I know will probably not ever see this post): I am so sorry for how you were treated when you came to the White House weeks ago. Those last 10 minutes were disgusting, and I’m proud of you for standing up to those people who tried to bully you. You’ve probably heard this, but there are a lot of U.S. Americans who stand with you and the people of Ukraine. Slava Ukraini!
To anyone who reads that part and thinks, “But he’s a dictator! He’s not holding elections!” I ask you this:
Are YOU in Ukraine, participating in the fighting for that country and its people? Do you know if the Ukrainians have the mental capacity to hold an election while fighting the Russian invaders at the same exact time? Did it occur to you that Ukrainians are Proud And Relieved to have a president and leader who will fight with them and not abandon them? To have a First Lady who also chose to stay and help too, and not abandon her husband, children, and people? If you need to hear a Ukrainian narrative, I recommend that you check out Viktor Kravchuk’s page
as well as his Notes. Then hopefully your perspective will change or at least soften a bit on Ukraine. My opinion on Ukraine: From what I read about Ukraine before it was part of Russia, Ukraine had its own culture before being annexed by Catherine “The Great” when she was empress of Russia. Since becoming an independent state again, Ukraine has regained its culture as a country, and should be allowed to join NATO. Putin needs to back the fuck off, mind his own damn business, and focus on rebuilding the Russian economy all without invading and “reclaiming” former USSR territories.
I know that there are other Ukrainian writers, Palestinian writers, Israeli writers, Russian writers (who may be expats and are also speaking out against Putin because they can) here on Substack writing and calling for these unnecessary wars to end. If you know of any of these writers, Fellow Musers, please link to them in the comments.
Finally, why did I write this post?
As I mentioned at the very beginning of this post-I wrote this post because I’ve reached a breaking point. A breaking point that demands I say what I need to say, and add my voice to those who are also tired of the BullShit. To be another voice that shows that there really are alot of U.S. Americans that are not happy with what’s going on in our country, do not approve of the way the Trump administration is going about things, and that speaking out is how we feel less powerless.
I wrote this to show that, while I may not talk direct politics too much on this Substack, I do see what’s going on. And honestly, I sometimes feel that if I ever write a political post, I’ll over explain and I’ll fuck it all up, and lose all of you.
“How does she truly feel about politics?” you may find yourself asking.
My answer: I fucking hate politics-I hate talking about it, I hate seeing it in every single fucking aspect of culture and society-I just fucking hate it! Yes, I do participate with the “<3” on political substack notes posts, and I have commented and shared a few of these types of Notes, but for the most part, I try to keep politics at a distance when I can.
BUT-also HOWEVER-as someone whose field of study involves observing politics as part of culture and society, I can’t escape it. For about 6 years I’ve surrendered to it and have made peace with that point.
And I acknowledge that politics is a crucial thing to talk about.
And I cry inside everytime I remember that.
Yeah, I’m crying inside right now as I write this. I cried inside myself as I wrote this whole post. I’ve inwardly cried while doing edits. It’s been a soul-crying fest y’all! I could probably flood Texas with all the inner-crying I’ve done while writin’ this post!
Fuck8! I wish we could just talk and argue and agree and disagree without being political, without needing to take up weapons against each other, without name callin’, without-well, I hope you get the picture.
Going forward, I will write 3 political-based posts per Musings year, unless something big happens, then 4 posts. I personally would just like to leave it at 1 political Musings per year, but Fellow Musers who have been subscribed on this Stack for a while probably know better (than me even) by now that will not be possible. On my About page, I do mention that I will talk about politics. But I promise that these posts will not dominate this Substack page. Future political posts will include U.S. based politics as well as International/Global politics.
But before I release any (more) political posts, I will be releasing the April Shout Out, my first official Deep Dive (again: future posts may mention politics but they will not be political posts unless I specifically put a notice at the top of the post), my Year 2 Substackaversary review, and a few other posts before diving into another political post.
Okay, I’ve said what I’ve needed to say for this post. I know I didn’t cover everything that’s been going on since January 20, 2025. But more importantly, Fellow Musers, you now know where I stand on some things. If there is a specific political topic that you would like me to cover, please DM me. And if you have grievances about my views, you are welcome to tell me, but let’s be respectful in our disagreements. Lite Warning: If you call me ugly names, figuratively speaking, there is a 75% chance that I will shoot back with a “Bless your heart” depending on what is said. I mean, you’ve seen my name, right?
(I know a few of you will understand the joke without me explaining it. For those that don’t, lemme know and I’ll explain it *wink*)
In case anyone is wondering what inspired this post, it was a post written by Heather Cox Richardson, author of
, along with some other posts she has written since then but you can read those at your own leisure if you so choose. For those of you who are still here, reading this and have decided to hang around because you know that there is more to this Substack than politics-I see you, I thank you, I appreciate you, and I platonically love all of you (except for my partner-I love him alot more than platonically).
Sincerely,

Continental Americans Defined: Any persons living on the continents of North and South America, as well as Central America (which I think of as the bridge of the two continents). We share these continents with each other, but we all have separate citizenship’s in separate countries of the continents. Similar to how in Europe, there are different countries with their own citizenship’s, but they all share the same continent and have their own union, the European Union.
…This paragraph has been heavily edited to be just 6 fucking lines. You’re welcome…I guess?…
Although-to be clear-there’s nothing wrong with having just a high school education whether from a public/private/alternative school, being home-schooled, or not going past an associate’s degree
Clarity about my view on guns: Nobody needs 10+guns at one time. 5 guns are more than reasonable. Absolutely no AR-15’s or ghost guns-those need to be destroyed! Last I checked, sling shots still work wonders and almost anything can be sling-shot at someone(s), arrows are still effective, and if the game Clue as taught us anything-it’s that any item can be used as a weapon, so gather up those candelabras. Oh, and for every gun you buy, you gotta turn one in. Not as an exchange, mind you-you buy one, seller looks in the database to see that you already have 5, and asks which gun you’re gonna be turning in that day. Of course there are holes in this idea, but I don’t hear anyone else putting forth alternative better ideas! Also, please note: Nowhere in this statement did I say that all guns need to be turned in and destroyed-only AR-15’s and ghost guns!
